This class is for any absolute beginner or those wishing to brush up on the basics. Feel comfortable in this environment as you are safely introduced to the main principles of yoga. You will explore basic postures, and alignment while establishing the connection between your body, mind, and breath. Each week will build on the previous, giving you the confidence and the awareness to practice safely in any class
Mixed Level Hatha
Suitable for all, this is a classic Hatha class. Integrating movement with breath, variations of asana will be tailored to meet your prevailing needs & levels of practice. Quiet precise movements focus your mind & enhance balance. Alignment, inner peace & a strong focused mind are cultivated to increase your overall health & vitality.
Take your practice to the next level. Many variations on asana are given as this is a mix level class for those practitioners with a strong understanding of Hatha basics. Focus will be on detailed alignment technique, meditation, vinyasa, pranayama, increasing strength/stamina/focus & balance with specific sequencing of asana.
Yin (Hatha Fusion)
Perfect for the flexible or inflexible body! Prenatal women & are also well suited for the benefits of this practice. A more gentle flow incorporating longer holding of stretches/asana. This practice improves the health of the joints, targeting the spine, and all major joints in the lower body. You are encouraged to work at your own level. A great way to balance your dynamic practice and be challenged in a completely different way.
Gentle Hatha (Candle light)
Come prepared to unwind from your day. You will be gently guided through stretches and poses with biomechanically sound alignment to optimize blood flow, functional movement patterns, and connection to the body’s natural ability to heal itself. All the usual suspects such as your hamstrings, hips, shoulder, neck, and back will be addressed to release your body of excess tension from habitual holding patterns and the physical & mental stresses of your daily life.
Perfect for those wishing to move at a quiet pace, and learn how to implement healthy movement and postures into daily life. Classes are designed to promote optimal functional movement patterns, safely support past/present injuries, increase blood flow to major joints, muscles, and organs, and to improve your quality of daily life by reducing pain. All levels are welcome. Suited well for those in recovery, pre/post natal, seniors, athlets and those looking for a good balance to their work out regime.
The guided relaxation offers a soothing atmosphere for those wishing to wind down, calm their mind, and prepare for restorative sleep on their return home.
Intro to Power
For the athletically inclined or those ready to make the switch from Hatha to a more dynamic and challenging flow. Learn proper body alignment & breathing techniques for the transitions guided by breath in flow. This class will prepare you for a power or vinyasa style class by sharing tools that will enable you to flow with safety in the more vigorous styles of yoga. Take your practice to another level and cultivate deeper focus.
Suitable for students with a solid foundation in their yoga practice. We use energetic vinyasa flow as a foundation, and combine it with specifically sequenced set of flowing yoga postures. Dynamic, deep, multi level options to meet all in the space each practice. This will warm you up, detoxify, challenge your balance, tap into your core stability, creativity and meditative focus to plug into your most powerful, grounded, and free self.
Pre / Postnatal Yoga
A time to connect with your baby and dedicate this personal time for yourself while being in the presence of other mom’s in a safe and nurturing environment. Be guided through a flow of gentle poses/stretch perfect for you & your growing baby. De-stress your body from the natural changes that progress with each term. Learn breathing & meditation techniques that will prepare you & baby for a confident birth.
Mom and Baby Yoga
While we gather with wee ones to reconnect with ourselves, bond with our babies, de-stress, rebuild/balance the postnatal body/mind, it is well understood that for some just getting out the door prepared is a task in itself. We are prepared for babies to be babies, even while we do yoga, you are welcome to do all you have to do to be a great mom. Join us in a nurturing space to share all that comes with your new life.
Outdoor Yoga - By Donation in support of The Asthma Society of Canada (weather dependent)
Enrich your day with Yoga. The perfect way to share a morning with family & friends while cultivating community Spirit and supporting a great cause. This is a Hatha class 12yrs +, all levels are welcome. Our teachers will guide you safely through variations of poses/asanas providing a calming, yet energizing class in the beauty of our great outdoors. The parks chosen are quiet, accessible by car, bus, walking,or biking. As your donations are graciously accepted, we make this class accessible to all and none will be turned away. You will need a mat, water, an extra warm layer, sun screen, hats are suggested, though we do have shade when needed.
We do not practice in extreme cold, heavy wind, or rain.
Participants are asked to follow us on Facebook to receive up to the hour confirmation of class as they are weather dependent. You will receive invites to our classes and we ask that you do RSVP.
